Should Achillea be fertilized? I've been told not to, that it will hinder blooms.

Yarrow grows and blooms best when planted in poor soils and kept on the dry side. If you fertilize, you'll encourage lush growth (out of character for a yarrow), and reduce flowering. I'd withhold fertilizer for this particular plant.
