The Q&A Archives: Achillea Millefolium

Question: Should Achillea be fertilized? I've been told not to, that it will hinder blooms.

Answer: Yarrow grows and blooms best when planted in poor soils and kept on the dry side. If you fertilize, you'll encourage lush growth (out of character for a yarrow), and reduce flowering. I'd withhold fertilizer for this particular plant.
