I've just planted a Snow Queen Oak Leaf Hydrangea that I anticipate will have beautiful red fall foliage. I would like to plant something behind it which will turn yellow in the fall. Can you suggest a tree or perennial shrub with some height for this location?

Kate,

Cedar elm is a fairly large tree with a golden fall color in most years if the weather cooperates. Gingko is another large tree with yellow fall color. Some crape myrtles will turn a yellow color while others take on yellow/orange/red colors. Althea leaves usually turn yellow in the fall before dropping.
