I have a pretty big bird of paradise that was planted to close to my front entry. What is the proper way to transplant and where does it grow best? Does it ever flower and is it possible to separate it once it starts multiplying? I live in the Orlando Florida area. Thanks

Renee,

You can transplant it by digging it with as much of the roots as is practical. Slide a tarp beneath it and use that to drag it to the new location or if you have help, to carry the tarp corners making it easier. Set it at the same depth and water it in well. If you can provide some shade for it for a week or so it will have an easier time adjusting. The bird of paradise can be divided and will flower in time.

Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
