About pruning Mums - Knowledgebase Question

I planted Mums in the Fall last year and I keep them cut back at this time of year. But I have one that is budding, should I cut it back or if I do will it bud again????

If it has already set buds I would allow it to bloom this summer and then try cutting it back to see if it will set buds again. Ideally, mums should be pinched every week until mid July to prevent them from setting buds in the spring. Also, dividing them each spring helps keep them vigorous and also helps prevent them from budding too early. Congratulations on having them survive the winter -- very often fall planted mums do not.
