The Q&A Archives: Clematis Deadheading

Question: Here in Auburn, CA, my Niobe is beginning it's second bloom. I know NOT to prune the branches, but should I deadhead? That is, remove the remains of the blooms?

Thank you!!

Answer: It isn't necessary to deadhead clematis; the spent flowers generally fall off on their own. Enjoy your beautiful plant!
