| Based on your description, the plant (Rumex sanguineus) is about to bloom. The tall stalks should have tiny flowers on them, followed by seeds. (This plant will seed about if you allow the seeds to mature.) In my experience, this plant is better grown as an annual so it maintains that attractive low mound of new foliage. Otherwise, you can try to keep it compact by removing bloom stems as soon as they appear to prevent the overall plant from elongating. So no, you didn't do anything wrong, your plants are behaving normally. |
