| My 10-12 foot high outdoor dracaena has flowered for the first time, the flower cluster is huge and leaning to one side. It has just started to bloom with what looks like white fuzz. My question is whether I need to cut the flower off after blooming or will it take care of itself in time. I don't want this to kill the plant, so I'm wondering if the leaning is normal or if the flower is too large and I should cut it now before the blooming. |
| What you describe is perfectly normal for your dracaena. If you'd like to enjoy the opened flower, leave it alone for a few weeks. Once it is spent, you can cut the flowering stem off the plant (cut a close as you can to the site of emergence). If you're not interested in seeing the mature flowers, you can cut the flowering stalk off now. Either way, the development of a flower stalk indicates your dracaena is completely happy with the care you're providing. Enjoy! |
