I appreciate your faith in our expertise, but if you asked a dozen gardeners, you'd probably get a dozen different answers! This is because tools fit people's hands differently. What feels comfortable in my hand might not feel quite right to you. With that said, here are my top three choices:

Fiskars Shear Ease Grass Shears - 9214 by Fiskars; about $15. Cutting head rotates 360 degrees for easy trimming at any angle. A patented mechanism prevents blades from jamming or sticking. Has hardened stainless steel blades that open extra-wide. The head swivels 360 for easy trimming along a border or edge; lightweight and easy to use. Has Nyglass handles, thumb operated lock and an ambidextrous design.

Fiskars Power-Lever Grass Shears - 7820 by Fiskars: about $15. Serrated blades grip and hold grass for clean cuts. Power-Lever design increases cutting power; Patented Gator Blade serrations; self-sharpening cutlery steel blade; Aluminum die cast handles with dual layer comfort grips.

Or, for about $35 you can purchase a 4.8 Volt Cordless Grass Shear by Black and Decker. It's easy to use, and reasonably light weight.

If all else fails, go to your local garden center and test drive a few models. I think you'll come away with just the right grass shears. Best wishes with your landscape!
