Leaf spots occur when you use overhead irrigation, or when there's a lot of spring rains. Water on the leaves helps bring out the fungus that causes spots on the leaves. It is unsightly but will not harm your plant. Once the fungus is present, there's nothing you can do. You can try to prevent it next year by spraying your hydrangea with a fungicide and avoid overhead watering.
