My clematis is around 6 years old. Last summer and agian this summer it has only had maybe 7 or 8 blooms and another hasn't bloomed at all. They receive morning sun but are shaded in the afternoon and their soil is well drained.

Clematis blooms best when it receives all day sunshine. These vining plants produce flowers on new growth so early spring pruning is required for best flowering. Move your clematis to a site that provides afternoon sunshine and it should bloom well for you. Best wishes with your garden!
