| What you've heard is right; Ligustrum doesn't like a heavy dose of fertilizer, but will appreciate light feeding in the spring and again in late summer. I use a 6-6-6 ratio of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium. You could use an 8-8-8 instead, if that's more readily available. Or, a half-strength dilution of a water-soluable fertilizer (Peter's or Miracle-Gro) can be used every 2-3 weeks if you enjoy getting out in the garden and feeding your plants all during the growing season.
