There is no strict definition for partial sun but it typically means morning sun and afternoon shade, or filtered afternoon sunshine. Hot afternoon sun can burn the foliage of some plants so unless a plant calls for full sunshine, (lavender, for instance), be sure to provide some protection from summertime afternoon sun. Your Hino Crimson Azalea will love a few hours of morning sun and shade in the afternoon.
