Asparagus beds are perennial, and the crop is edible, so controlling weeds is best done by hand. Once you've removed the weeds you can mulch the soil to eliminate light and help keep weed seeds from germinating. Try waiting for a nice spring rain to thoroughly wet the soil in the bed, and then pulling the weeds the next day. They'll come out much easier! Try to keep the weeds down as they appear. If you let the weeds grow large enough to mature and set seed, you'll have even more weeds to contend with!
