we have a green leaved euryops and live in zone 5. we would like to plant it outside, is there a way to winterize this plant for the winter like using hay or rose cones or something along those lines. thanks for your help

Unfortunately, there is no way to winterize this plant so it can survive an Illinois winter outside. It is just not very cold tolerant -- it is only winter hardy to zone 8 and is grown outdoors year round in places like Florida or southern California. If you keep it as a container plant you might be able to overwinter it in a cool bright location indoors, although it tends to deteriorate when kept as a houseplant for the winter. I'm sorry I can't be more encouraging.
