According to the Zone map I live in Zone 10 but my Lemon Tree froze in the winter and died. I found out that I can't grow Cetrus in this area. Then when I'm buying plants I can't look at the Zone #. I need to Know what tempreture hardiness I Should buy.

Palmdale California is actually USDA zone 8A, with an average winter low of 10 degrees. That eliminates citrus, but there are over 700 different plants that you can grow in your garden. You can do a plant search on the National Gardening website (http://garden.org). When you reach the home page, find the zone finder in the left column. Type in your zipcode and it will identify your zone. Then click on "find plants for your zone" and a list of plants suitable for your zone will appear.

Best wishes with your garden!
