| My green beens look great with lots leaves and white flowers. However, those white flowers turn into beans and grow about < half inches and they are gone. What problem do I have? |
| Your beans are probably aborting because they haven't been pollinated. Insects typically visit the flowers and if there are no insects because of cold weather, overhead sprinkling or rain, or because you've used insecticides on or near your plants, the flowers will not develop into beans. Green beans grow best in full sun and are temperature sensitive. That means if the weather gets too hot (over 90F) the flowers will close quickly, whether or not they've been pollinated. You can avoid these problems by planting in early spring so your green beans are ready to harvest before the weather gets too hot. Best wishes with our garden! |
