once poppies are finished blooming what is their care?

Perennial poppies are very low maintenance plants. You can deadhead (remove the faded blooms and the bloom stems) if you wish. Apply a layer of organic mulch about two inches thick over the root area if you have not already done so. Otherwise, there is not much to do for them. They will die back in midsummer so do not be surprised to see that happen. You may want to mark the spot where they are planted so you do not forget their location while they are dormant. In the fall, they will send up some foliage again. Enjoy the poppies!
