The Q&A Archives: pruning dwarf weeping cherry tree

Question: How do I prune my 3year old weeping cherry tree ?

Answer: Ornamental cherries do not need much pruning, and it is best to minimize it as pruning leaves wounds which are an open invitation to pests and diseases. You would remove any broken or damaged or dead branches. Then you would remove any badly rubbing branches. Also remove, as soon as you see it, any growth from the roots or below the graft on the trunk. That's about it.
