MY CRAPE MYRTLE HAS LOOSE BARK ALMOST LIKE A RIVER BIRCH. WHAT COULD THIS BE? IS IT FROM SOME TYPE OF INSECT OR DISEASE? AND WHAT SHOULD I DO ABOUT IT? IN SOME PLACES IT LOOKS LIKE THE BARK HAS BEEN STRIPPED FROM IT.

Pam,

That is totally natural for a crape myrtle. Their bark exfoliates in thin sheets that either peel off in strips or sometimes also roll up a little as they peel away.
