I was wondering about the cold hardiness of the Nandina Plum Passion. I recently saw a listserve that indicated that it may lose a number of its leaves in the winter in the mid-Atlantic (Washington DC) area. Can you shed some more light on the hardiness of this plant?

This plant should be fully winter hardy in your area, meaning the plant will survive the winter cold no problem. It will not be fully evergreen however. Instead it will be semi evergreen, meaning it loses its leaves at some point in midwinter. I hope this answers your question.
