| I have a VERY difficult area in my front yard to plant. This area only gets about 2-3 hours of afternoon sun per day, usually from around 2:30 p.m until 5:00 p.m. I have tried many different plants, but nothing seems to make it. I am in desperate need of your help!!! Could you please advise on what types of plants would do well in these conditions? I have purchased many of your plants from Ida's Garden Center here in Lockport and I just love them!! I'm not looking for a particular theme or color, just something that will grow and thrive!! | Sometimes with an area like this it is helpful to think about other ways to deal with it rather than plants, especially since you have already tried so many different plants there. Maybe you could put a bit of patio and a pretty bench there, or cobblestones with a small water feature, or a birdhouse on a post surrounded by large rocks. Or, you might be able to plant a large shrub or tree nearby or build a pergola or overhead lattice that would add to the shade so the area becomes fully shaded all day rather than being hit by that hot late afternoon sun.
