Can I trim my lilac bush now or is it too late? I don't want to trim the bush too late and then have it not bloom next year.

It's mid-summer now and your lilac bush has probably already formed flower buds for next spring's display. Before pruning examine the tips of the branches. If you see that buds have already formed, it's too late to prune. If no new leaf and flower buds are visible, it's safe to prune. Best wishes with your lilac.
