I live in Houston, TX and need help on pruning asparagus ferns. It's mid-July so its hot & humid. I have 7 planted in a cicle around a large hibiscus container pot. The ferns looked great at first since all 7 were planted the same size. The problem is 2-3 ferns are growing like wild, while the others struggle to survive. How do I prune back the larger ones? Does this kill the plant? Thank you. |
Kelley, You can cut them back to the ground if you like and they will resprout just fine. Provide a little fertilize and water it in well with a good soaking and they should be back with lots of fresh new foliage in no time. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
