| I live in a condo in Miami, Florida. The condo has a small front yard with a small strip of land between the walkway and the house. In that small strip, there is a mixture of shallow soil and concrete from the building of the house itself. Everytime I attempt to plant anything there, it's washed away with the rain. I've even added soil to the area, but the rain washes all the soil away and exposes the concrete and leaves a bit of soil behind. My question is: What sorts of plants/flowers can I plant there so that it isn't washed away and covers up the ugly/plain narrow strip? |
| Lynx, First of all I would try to figure out how to redirect the water that is washing things out. Of your available plant types the ones that hold soil best are the clumping ornamental grasses such as Miscanthus or maiden grass. Adding rock to the surface as a mulch would also help deter the loss of soil from erosion. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
