what time of the year is best to plant a mimosa tree in a zone 6?

Since zone 6 is the northern edge of hardiness for these trees, I would recommend planting in the spring. This allows a full growing season for them to begin rooting and establishing before the cold weather hits. Also plant in a sheltered location with protection from winter winds.
