The Q&A Archives: Name of large flowering plant

Question: I am trying to locate the name of a flowering bush/shrub that I saw growing in a well kept median in Albuquerque, NM. Description: 1. Colors = pinkish white, fuschia and a deep maroon. 2. Flower size = extremely large, the size of a plate. 3. Size of flowering bush = 4 X 4 foot with good sized leaves. 4.

Answer: Rose mallow is a common name for a type of hibiscus. Did you search on hibiscus? There are many varieties, some with larger stamens and/or blossoms. If you can't place it among more hibiscus options, check with Albuquerque's street maintenance division (or the HOA, etc. responsible for that median). Good luck!
