| G'day, Our tree is sparse with leaves and has lots of branches containing seeds/fruit but has not flowered in a long time and the tree has been in this state for a long time. Is this normal or is it lacking something? Look forward to some help Cheers Adrian |
| What you describe is not normal for a Himalayan champaca. It is related to magnolia and should grow in spring, summer and fall, and should flower most of that time. If your tree is not growing, it may be water stressed or be suffering from a nutrient deficiency. It's important to water deeply once a week (twice if the weather is really hot) to help the tree establish a deep root system. If the foliage is pale, you'll want to feed with a general-purpose fertilizer (in amounts as recommended on the label). If the above treatments do not encourage new growth, you may want to prune the branch tips out. This should stimulate new growth. Best wishes with your champaca tree! |
