English ivy (Hedera helix)has small leaves and some cultivars have green and white leaf variations; Parthenocissus (Virginia Creeper) looks and acts like ivy but the foliage turns red during cold weather. Although mature ivy does produce small flowers and black berries, ivy is generally not thought of as a flowering plant. I would use Parthenocissus in the site, just for the unusual winter color.

Best wishes with your garden!
