| 3 years ago I planted wisteria. It has grown beautifully but I've had no flowers yet. The soil maybe acidic from pine. How can I help it flower? |
| Wisteria is one of the most spectacular vines you can grow - it is also one of the more challenging. Perhaps I should modify that...the vine is easy to grow, the challenge is getting it to flower. I think the youngest wisteria I have heard of producing flowers is 3 years old - and it wasn't a very impressive show. Wisteria simply likes to take its time and when it is ready, it will bloom. Pine needles will acidify the soil, but not to the extent that it will bother your wisteria. I'd hold off on nitrogen fertilizer. Too much nitrogen can result in lots of lush, green growth, but at the expense of flowers. Give your wisteria lots of sunshine, adequate water, and no fertilizer. It should bloom within the next year or two. Best wishes with your garden! |
