I see a lot of mushrooms popping out from my mulch. Is it safe to pull them out, and what are ways that I can prevent them from coming back?

The mushrooms are growing from decomposing organic material in your mulch. They are quite common and are harmless, if unattractive. You can pull them up and toss them in the garbage. To keep your organic mulch from sprouting mushrooms, simply rake the mulch around periodically. This will expose different parts of the mulch to fresh air and will dry it out to the point that it won't sprout mushrooms.
