Could you give us the names of some plants, which will tolerate both salt air and shade. We live on the intercoastal and have huge old oak trees in our yard. Azaleas absolutely will not grow here. We'd like some evergreen shrubs as well as some flowering shrubs and some ground cover.

Dawn,

In order to provide you with more information than we can fit in this brief answer, let me refer you to the following web sites, which should be very informative and useful to you. They will give you much more information than I can fit in this brief reply.
http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/EP012
http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/scrip...

The second site is about annual flowers but has a chart in the online publication that lists salt tolerance of various plants.
