I purchased a bush for zone 9 but do not know exactly where to plant it. I am guessing on the north side of my house with some shade in the hot summer days. Any help on where to plant and how much shade will be a great help.

Without knowing exactly what plant (genus and species) it's difficult to provide guidance. Traditional "lilacs" that grow in other parts of the country don't thrive in the low desert's aridity, alkalinity or intense heat. Please send another email to the Q&A with the plant's genus and species. It should be on the plant tag or the container. Thanks!
