The Q&A Archives: I'm looking for a refererence book on ideal Ph levels for plants

Question: I am interested in any reference material on Ph and what plants
do best on what level of Ph.
We developed a machine that can control the Ph from 2.5 to 12 ph,
but we need to know which plants thrive on what level of Ph.

Thanks! Jim Bojarski

Answer: The following explains how pH affects plants and explains why many plants will actually tolerate quite a wide range of pH and list preferences for selected plants.

The following charts show sensitivities and ideal pH for a very wide variety of plants, grouped by general category such as trees, greenhouse plants, etc.

Your local county extension should also be able to assist you if you need more detailed information. Good luck with your project!
