The Q&A Archives: What can I do for split leaves?

Question: I have a Burgundy rubber plant that has cracked and split leaves, how do you prevent this and what can you do for the leaves that are already split?

Answer: Splitting leaves is usually a sign of water stress. To avoid the problem, water thoroughly and keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy wet. Once the leaves have split, they'll always be damaged and there's nothing you can do to help them return to their undamaged state. If you change your watering habits, new leaves should remain healthy and intact.

Best wishes with your rubber plant!
