How do I prune lacecap hydrangeas?

These hydrangeas bloom on wood that grew the previous year, so the best time to prune would be right after it blooms. Remove some of the longest stems by cutting them off deep inside the plant. This will thin it out slightly and promote vigorous new growth from the base. You can removed faded blooms at any time.
