| It's difficult to identify the pest by your description, but I suspect it's a misdirected corn earworm. These are moth larvae so if you can keep the adult moth from laying eggs on your crop, you'll eliminate the problem. This year plant your beans in a different garden spot and cover the entire row with a floating row cover, like Reemay. This will keep the insects away from your beans.
