I have several kinds of elephant ears. I wish i could email you the pictures because i wanted yo to tell me the name of the one which I can not find at any nursery. I got the plant from a garden show at the South Coast Plaza in Orange County. It was sold as a piece of root and it grew very large very quickly. The one distiguishing feature it has is that the leaf is open or cut at the top of the heart shape down to the place where it connects to the stem not like the Colocasia which is webbed together but other wise it is very similar except the way it comes out of the ground and the piece which I planted on the two plants are very different. Can you tell me the name of this elephant ear?

There are probably hundreds of varieties of Colocasia, Taro, and Alocasia plants. I can't tell from your description, but here's a web address with color photos of many. Perhaps you can identify your plant here:

Best wishes with your plants!
