Good Morning,
Is it advised to plant a Lillie Oak Leaf Hydrangea in the autumn? I have an area on my patio that gets early morning sun and then afternoon sun from 3-4:30. May I use Miracle-Gro soil with fertilizer
or what type and do I want alkaline or acidic basis for this plant?
I live in a number 7 growing area. Many thanks!!

Spring and fall are the best times to plant landscape trees and shrubs. That's when temperatures are cool and rainfall abundant, both of which will help the roots become established in the shortest amount of time. The site you describe sounds great for hydrangea. Miracle-Gro is an excellent fertilizer; apply in amounts as recommended on the label. Hydrangeas are adaptable to many soil types and degrees of acidity or alkalinity. Since your plant will produce white flowers, adjusting the soil pH isn't necessary. (Blue or pink flowered hydrangeas will change color if the soil is too acid or too alkaline.)

Enjoy your new hydrangea!
