The Q&A Archives: Pruning Camellias

Question: When can you safely prune back a large, established Camellia?

Answer: Camellias benefit by annual pruning to thin out the center of the plant. As soon as your plant finishes blooming, remove crossing limbs and thin the remaining ones to open the plant to air and light. This helps reduce disease and encourages more blooms the next year.
