are all outdoor hibiscus perennials and come back next year |
There are several different types of hibiscus. The woody shrub Hibiscus syriacus (also sometimes called Rose of Sharon) is winter hardy outdoors in your area. Certain perennial types such as Hibiscus moscheutos and hybrids such as the Disco Belle series or Lord Baltimore are also winter hardy in your area. These go dormant after frost and come back the following year. They usually do not begin to grow again until very late in the spring when the soil has had a chance to warm up. Hibiscus rosa sinensis is a flowering tropical plant with large flowers and glossy dark green leaves. It is often sold as a summer patio plant. This one would need to be brought indoors for the winter, or replaced each spring. I hope this helps. |
