Honeysuckle grows best in full sunshine with regular applications of water. It is normal for the lower (older) leaves to drop, which can leave bare stems toward the bottom of the plant. As long as your honeysuckle is putting out new growth and flowering, it is healthy. To counteract the bare lower portions of the plant, prune your honeysuckle down each spring and remove some of the oldest stems. This will encourage lots of new growth including new leaves and flowers.

Best wishes with your garden!
