To some extent your choices really depend on how shady (and at what time of day) the planting spot is and what the soil conditions are. You might consider Virginia creeper, sweet autumn clematis, and English ivy along with the Chinese hydrangea vine (Schizophragma hydrangeoides `Moonlight`) and possibly the climbing hydrangea (Hydrangea anomala petiolaris). Your local county extension and professionally trained nursery staff may have other suggestions based on a more detailed understanding of the growing conditions where you want ot plant and your overall design goals. Good luck with your new vine!
