Can you tell me how invasive the root system for a Nellie Stevens Holly is? We had a pool installed, and to our dismay - the plumbers routed the pool plumbing with in 1 foot of the root ball (it was a recently planted 45 gallon tree). We're worried the roots will eventually grow & break the pipes. I've heard of Oak tree roots doing this and was wondering if Holly trees are likely to do this. If so, we'll need to relocate the tree.

Suzanne,

It is like most other plants, not more or less invasive. I doubt the roots will go into the pipes or break them. Roots go into pipes when there is an opening or leak in the pipe that provides a point of entry.
