Can you tell me how invasive the root system for a Nellie Stevens Holly is? We had a pool installed, and to our dismay - the plumbers routed the pool plumbing with in 1 foot of the root ball (it was a recently planted 45 gallon tree). We're worried the roots will eventually grow & break the pipes. I've heard of Oak tree roots doing this and was wondering if Holly trees are likely to do this. If so, we'll need to relocate the tree. |
Suzanne, It is like most other plants, not more or less invasive. I doubt the roots will go into the pipes or break them. Roots go into pipes when there is an opening or leak in the pipe that provides a point of entry. Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon! |
