I've got this yellow powdery mushroom like things growing out of my garden soil and container plants? What is it & will it hurt my plants, if so how do I get reid of it? Oh forgot to let you know that I live in South Texas (Houston) on the Gulf Cost.

Thank You

Deborah,

Your are seeing the fruiting structures of some type of decomposer fungi. There is a multitude of such fungi out there in nature turning organic matter into soil. Some produce mushrooms, some the "shelf type" structures you might see on a fallen log, and others the "puff ball" type structures that release the tiny blasts of spores that appeared as smoke. It is nothing to worry about, just nature in action building soil
