The Q&A Archives: Mulch

Question: What type of mulch should I use around an oak tree?

Answer: Grass rarely grows well beneath oak trees so it is recommended you use 3-4" of organic mulch to help conserve moisture and suppress weeds. You can use shredded bark or bark chips beneath your oak without concern about it harming your tree.
