I am trying to find the name of a plant that is growing in a neighbor's yard. It is approximately 6 feet tall, has large heart-shaped medium green leave that form a sort of unmbrella effect and the flowers are red Christmas tree shaped and they protrude above the leaves. I am hoping you can identify it from this description. Thank you.

Carole,

That is a tough one. You might be seeing a Firespike (Odontonema strictum):

If this is not correct take a photo of the plant to your local County Extension Office and they can probably tell you right away what it is. Here's their contact info:
1010 N. McDuff Ave.
Jacksonville, FL 32202
Phone: (904) 387-8855

Thanks for the question. Please stop in again soon!
