My yard is 30' by 17'. In the far corner I would like to plant a tree that would eventially shade the patio and not be too much of a mess. My home is 2 story and the back yard faces east. The corner I would like to put the tree would face west and on the north side of the yard. I don't care for Palm trees.

Thanks for your help

You might consider an ornamental pear, Acer japonicum (fullmoon maple), Apple, Cercis (redbud), Chionanthus (fringe tree), Crape Myrtle, flowering plum, Stewartia, or Leptospermum (Australian Tea Tree - evergreen).

Best wishes with your landscape!
