mimosa tree with yellow petaled flowers - Knowledgebase Question

i've always loved mimosa trees, recently i came across a tree that looked like a mimosa tree except it had yellow petaled flowers. my question is what is it and is it a mimosa?

I do not think the tree you saw was a mimosa (Albizia julibrissin.) It might possibly have been some kind of Acacia or perhaps a cultivar of Caesalpinia pulcherrima or some other warm climate plant. Without knowing where you saw it and at what time of year it bloomed, it is difficult to try to make a more specific guess. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.
