I'm in zone 4 and looking for a specimen shrub to plant in the border in front of my house. Size wise approx. 6' x 6' would be ideal, and unfortunately it is pretty shady, less than two hours of sun, if that. It is a southern exposure but has a canopy of mature sugar maples. Any suggestions? Thanks! |
You might be able to grow the summer blooming, fragrant Clethra alnifolia there, unless the soil is very dry due to the tree roots and canopy blocking rain from hitting the ground. I would also suggest you consult with your local county extension and professionally trained nurseryman for additional suggestions based on a more detailed understanding of the growing conditions where you want to plant and your overall design goals. Enjoy your new shrub! |
