Gelsemium sempervirens blooms on old wood. This means the time to prune is right after it blooms. You can thin it, shorten it, or cut it back very hard if needed at that time. During the year you can trim back the occasional wild growing tip if needed but do not give it an overall prune. Prune out dead stems at any time. Enjoy your Jessamine vine!
